The death of a person whose body was discovered in a Stockport park is not being treated as suspicious, it has been confirmed. The grim discovery was made in Vernon Park, east of Stockport town centre on Monday evening.
A body was recovered from the water at the park which borders the River Goyt. No further details about the deceased - including their age or gender - have yet been revealed.
However, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have this afternoon confirmed there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. A report is being prepared for the coroner, the force added.
