Citroen, Renault, Nissan and Vauxhall are the first car makers to offer government discounts on its electric car range as part of the official Electric Car Grants. The government scheme was announced three weeks ago, with eligible models now showing on the official government website as being available with grant money applied to the list price. However, of all the cars currently eligible, none are getting the full £3,750 discount. Only a £1,500 grant is currently available on the models listed.
The entire range of Renault electric models including the award-winning Renault 5 and its retro cousin the Renault 4, plus Megane and Scenic, are eligible for the Electric Car Grant. Nissan has announced that its Ariya and upcoming electric Micra models will get grants, while Vauxhall’s range of EVs, including Corsa, Mokka, Astra, Frontera, Grandland and Combo Life, all get the £1,500 discount.
