A ninth child is reported to have died after contracting Strep A. The BBC reports that a five-year-old girl became severely ill last week and died in hospital.
Children at Black Mountain Primary School in Belfast have been asked to attend a clinic to be seen by a doctor and receive a preventative course of antibiotics.
BBC News NI understands the girl had been treated in intensive care but died on Monday.
