For as great as two-time league MVP Nikola Jokić is, it’s fair to say that there’s not much that can draw a reaction from him. Whether it’s being compared to the greats of the game, or being named MVP twice, Jokić usually leaves fans with the impression that he really doesn’t care about accolades all that much.
There was one moment on Friday night that did draw a reaction from him though, and it was when he revealed that a text message from Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic faces Casper Ruud in the French Open final on Sunday for the opportunity to win a record 23rd Grand Slam.
“He texted me, for real. He texted me, for real, he didn’t lie,” Jokić said as his face lit up after a question about the tennis star. “He’s amazing of course in his sport and he’s making history. He’s probably going to go down as one of the best ever, if not the best ever. He has a nice opportunity to win another one and he’s just amazing in his sport and having him as our countryman to represent us in the world, I think it’s a great honor. I think the people in Serbia are really happy that we have him as our countryman.”
"That he represents us in the world...it's a great honor."

With the Nuggets up 3–1 and closing in on their first ever NBA title, and Djokovic nearing yet another Grand Slam, it could be a very exciting week for the two stars and the country of Serbia.
It will certainly be a storyline to follow in the coming days.
