Nicola Sturgeon gives update on 'double or quits' bet with Douglas Ross

NICOLA Sturgeon has issued an update on her “double or quits” bet with Douglas Ross on who would last longer in their positions as First Minister and Scottish Conservative leader respectively.

The bet, first made in 2021, reportedly came after Ross told The Telegraph he expected the SNP leader to step down before 2026.

Sturgeon has now posted an update on what she’s done with the £100 she owed the Scottish Tory leader.

Writing on Twitter, the outgoing FM said: “You probably don’t know this as he has so rarely mentioned it – but I lost a bet with @Douglas4Moray on who would stand down as leader of their party first.

“With his agreement I have today made a £100 donation to @supportChas – a truly wonderful charity.”

The tweet was posted alongside an image showing a message of thanks for the donation from the charity.

Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) is a charity which supports children with a life-shortening condition.
