Nicola McLean invites Rebekah Vardy to be bridesmaid at her renewal after Wagatha drama

Nicola McLean has invited her pal Rebekah Vardy to be a bridesmaid at her vow renewal after supporting her throughout the Wagatha Christie trial.

Former glamour model Nicola has been a staunch defender of Vardy since she was accused by Coleen Rooney of regularly passing information about her fellow WAG to the press.

And now Nicola, 40, has told how she plans to strengthen her friendship with the wife of Jamie Vardy.

The mum-of-four has invited Rebekah to play a starring role in her vow renewal, 14 years after she married former Queens Park Rangers and West Ham footballer Tom Williams in 2009.

The couple – who share sons Rocky, 16, and Striker, 12, were planning a celebration about their 10 th anniversary but plans fell through due to the pandemic, so Nicola has revealed she’s keen to commemorate their union as soon as possible.

Nicola has told how she wants BFF Rebekah to be a poignant part of their second special day, telling Closer: “I’d love Becky Vardy and [former Big Brother contestant] Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace to be my bridesmaids. They’re more than just celebrity friends.”

However, Nicola has told how Las Vegas is strictly off limits as a location for her vow renewal.

She and husband Tom split briefly in 2014 after a video of the footballer appearing to kiss a woman in a Las Vegas nightclub emerged.

She told the publication: “Vegas doesn’t have very good memories for me, so it wont be taking place there. We’d probably do it in England so everyone could attend.”

Last month, Mrs Justice Steyn ruled in favour of Coleen Rooney in the libel case and said that Rebekah Vardy had regularly passed information about her fellow WAG to the press.

Discussing the outcome of the explosive trial on Monday's Good Morning Britain, hosts Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley invited pal Nicola onto the ITV show to comment on Rebekah's next move.

Richard began: "I think possibly the reason there's a bit of a backlash about this plan for Rebekah to make money off the back of this... it's almost a moral argument. The thing is, the judge in this case basically said that she'd lied off her face. There's a sense that there's something wrong with her being able to make a lot of money off the back of telling porkies?"

Speaking live from Cyprus, Nicola said: "Okay, well Becky has come out hasn't she and said she disagrees with what the judge has said, so that's for her... I wasn't there, I don't know, but I think that everyone else is monetising over this.

"For three years this has been absolutely glorified by everyone, people have loved reading about it so I think why shouldn't both girls, not just Rebekah, but if Coleen wants to also do Netflix docs or whatever it's been reported, then why not?

"They've got a right to earn money over something that's been personal to them. Everybody else is earning money from it so why shouldn't they?" Nicola said.

Nicola has since admitted she’s taking part in a documentary about the trial herself.

She’s set to appear in Channel 4 ’s documanty on the legal showdown Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama.

“I’ve taken part in the documentary – I don’t think this story is ever going to end,” she told Closer.

“Rebekah is not happy with the outcome but I’m glad it’s over for many different reasons. It took a toll on a lot of people’s mental health.”
