Nicola Bulley police to hold press conference on Monday

Police investigating the disappearance of Nicola Bulley are to hold a press conference later on Monday.

It follows the discovery of a body in the River Wyre on Sunday from the water around a mile from Ms Bulley’s last known location.

Ms Bulley disappeared while walking her dog in St Michael’s on Wyre in Lancashire three weeks ago, sparking a major search.

Lancashire Police previously said they believed the 45-year-old had gone into the river and that her disappearance on January 27 was not suspicious.

On Sunday, Lancashire Police said they “sadly recovered a body” from the water around a mile from Ms Bulley’s last known location.

In a statement earlier on Monday, Lancashire Police said “procedures to identify the body are ongoing”.

The news conference is set to take place at around 5.30pm.

Ms Bulley, a mortgage adviser, was last seen walking her springer spaniel Willow after dropping off her two daughters, aged six and nine, at school.

Ms Bulley’s partner has spoken of his family’s pain after the body was found in the river.

Lancashire Police has faced criticism of its handling of the investigation into Ms Bulley’s disappearance.
