Renowned American author and political activist Barbara Ehrenreich died on September 1, 2022, her son Ben Ehrenreich announced on social media recently. She was 81. Sharing the news her son Ben, who is also a writer, posted on Twitter, "Sad news. Barbara Ehrenreich, my one and only mother, died on September 1, a few days after her 81st birthday. She was, she made clear, ready to go. She was never much for thoughts and prayers, but you can honor her memory by loving one another, and by fighting like hell."
During her lifetime, Barbara Ehrenreich penned over 20 books in which she wrote about women's rights, inequality, and social justice. Through her writings, she was was committed to give a voice to the unheard and marginalised people of the society.
In her debut book 'Long March, Short Spring', which was published in 1969, she wrote about the students' protests and uprising against the Vietnam War. She is best-remembered for her book 'Nickel and Dimed' which was published in 2001. In this book, she shared her experience of living the life of low income worker in Florida and it lead to the much-needed minimum wage movement in America.
Thanking her readers, fans, and followers for their condolence messages, her son Ben also tweeted, "Thanks for all the kind words. I’m overwhelmed not only by the loss but by all the love for her. I’m sorry I can’t respond to all your messages, wish that she could see them."
