Nick Kyrgios breaks Wimbledon rules again immediately after losing final to Novak Djokovic

Nick Kyrgios could not resist the chance to break the Wimbledon dress code rules one last time in 2022 after being beaten by Novak Djokovic in the men's singles final.

Australian outsider Kyrgios, who has made headlines for his antics throughout the tournament, was beaten in four sets against the world No.1 on centre court. Djokovic won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6, to clinch his fourth Championship on the spin.

Immediately after the game, Kyrgios put on his red Nike Air Jordan cap to conduct his on-court interviews, which clearly violated SW19's longstanding all-white dress code. It is not the first time he has insisted on wearing his red headwear at Wimbledon this year, and he has also insisted on walking to the court in red Nike Air Jordan trainers.

“What's that's saying? Any publicity is good publicity, right?" Kyrgios hit back in a spiky exchange when asked if he considered himself "above the rules" by a journalist earlier this week.

Kyrgios, who ranted at his players' box throughout the intense encounter, had fans in stitches during his on-court interviews after missing out on the biggest win of his career.

He offered an amusing assessment of Djokovic, stating: "Yeah, he's a bit of a god, I'm not gonna lie," before thanking the umpires whom he has regularly clashed with.

"I wanna say thank you - I know you and I have a very tough relationship at times". Asked if he was hungry for more Grand Slam finals after his first appearance, he replied: "Absolutely not, I'm so tired!"

Despite not being desperate to repeat his run to the final any time soon, Djokovic confidently told his opponent: "Nick, you'll be back. Not just in Wimbledon but in many finals."

He added: "I know it's tough to find consolation words after a tough loss like this but you showed you deserve to be the best in the world especially on this surface, after this tournament, I wish you all the best.

"I really respect you a lot, you are an amazing talent and now everything is starting to come together for you. I never thought I would say so many nice things about you considering the relationship. OK, it's officially a bromance.

"The winner buys dinner - that's why he lost. I don't know if we're going to make it happen tonight but this is the start of a wonderful relationship between us. I didn't respond to the nightclub question because my wife was next to me but let's start with dinner and drinks."
