One of the NFL’s central on-field problems is an utter lack of quality quarterback play across the board.
Year after year, we see many teams flail around in desperation, hoping for something, anything worth writing home about under center. Squads are constantly pulling all the stops to find any competent answer in free agency, the draft, or perhaps in an ambitious trade.
Follow the nature of this cycle long enough, and you’ll start to see a pattern form. For one, it’s often the same teams seeking a passer (the Bears, Jets, etc.). For the other, it’s often the exact same names who pop up on teams’ radars because they’ve tried nothing, and they’re all out of ideas.
In totally unrelated news, per The Athletic’s Zak Keefer, the Colts are reportedly getting close to signing veteran backup/former Super Bowl winner Nick Foles.
Because, of course.
Colts are working to add veteran QB Nick Foles, sources said. Nothing done yet, but there’s a chance it comes by next week. Makes a ton of sense on both sides. He’d backup new starter Matt Ryan.

If we’re being honest, Foles’ fit with the Colts does make sense on its face. He has familiarity with head coach Frank Reich from their time together in Philadelphia. So, he can probably (somewhat) execute the offense in a pinch if new starter Matt Ryan ever goes down.
That said: Come on! Does anyone in the league have any new ideas? Anyone at all? Well, at least Foles knows the offense, I suppose.
