New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has seized Rs 2.98 lakh cash among other incriminating materials during searches at multiple locations in Chhattisgarh in connection with the naxal IED attack on a poll party convoy during the 2023 Assembly elections, the agency said on Friday.

The raids were conducted on Thursday at the premises of six suspects in the naxal-infested area of Badegobra village in Chhattisgarh's Gariyaband district as part of its investigations in the case.

Several mobile phones along with cash amounting to Rs 2,98,000 in cash were seized during the searches from the premises of suspects believed to be working as overground workers (OGWs) and supporters of the Mainpur-Nuapada division of the banned naxal outfit.

A head constable of Indo-Tibetan Battalion Police (ITBP) of 615 Battalion was injured in the attack that took place in November 2023.

NIA, which had taken over the case in February 2024, had identified the Naxal cadres as the perpetrators of the attack. (with Agency inputs)
