THE GMB and Royal College of Nursing Scotland have paused a formal announcement of strike action following further talks with the Scottish Government.
Scotland's Health Secretary Humza Yousaf said the news was "very welcome".
Negotiations could take weeks and unions have said they still have a mandate from members to call strike action if a deal is unsuccessful.
