Health chiefs in Dumfries and Galloway have launched special investigations to discover why so many patients are picking up healthcare-acquired infections.

The number of bloodstream infections – known as SABs (staphylococcus aureus bacteremia) – has climbed worryingly high in 2021/22, according to a new report.
