: The National Green Tribunal directed the governments of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to inform them about the number of human corpses found floating on the river Ganga as well as the bodies that were buried on the river in the two states starting from before the arrival of COVID-19 till March 31 of this year.
A Bench of Justices Arun Kumar Tyagi, along with an expert member Dr. Afroz Ahmad, directed the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary (Health), and Governments of both UP and Bihar to submit the factual verification reports on the case.
