The Chicago Bears have never fired a head coach midseason in their 103-year history. Could that finally change?

NBC Sports’ Peter King appeared on 670 The Score on Tuesday night and said that if the Bears lose to the Washington Commanders on Thursday, he wouldn’t be surprised if the team moves on from Eberflus quickly.
“I would not be surprised if it is a bad loss Thursday,” King said, “and if the Bears make a change, it wouldn’t be surprising.”

If that’s the case, this would be the perfect time for the Bears to make a move. Following Thursday’s game, Chicago has 11 days before they face the Vikings on Oct. 15. It would provide enough time to appoint Eberflus’ replacement and have plans in place.
Granted, this would require the Bears doing something they’ve never done before, which is firing a coach during the season. Now that Kevin Warren is in place as president/CEO, could we see him take action if the team continues to spiral? Stay tuned.
