The NFL announced important dates for the rest of 2023 and for 2024. It included some details about training camp and the preseason.
The first detail was that teams can expect rookies to report to training camp as early as seven days before the earliest date they can have veterans report.
The Cardinals have not released to the public when players will report for camp, although they did announce their open practice schedule at State Farm Stadium.
The other notable detail about the preseason was a change that was known to be coming.
This year, there will only be one roster cutdown date.
Teams can carry a 90-man roster all the way through the third and final preseason game before the final cutdown date to 53 players on August 29.
Previously, teams had to cut down the roster some after the second preseason game.
This move will make things easier for roster management in the final preseason game, as teams typically will not play most players who are expected to make the final roster.
