NFC West standings: 49ers on top, Seahawks bounce back

The 49ers on Sunday got a key NFC West victory on the road in Los Angeles. By knocking off the Rams 30-23 at SoFi Stadium, San Francisco took over the top spot in the division after two weeks of play.

It was nearly a disaster week for the 49ers where every team in their division won. In that event they would’ve found themselves at the bottom of the West. On the other hand, they nearly had a perfect week where every team in the division lost. Instead they landed somewhere in the middle with the Seahawks grabbing a win, and the Rams and Cardinals taking losses.

Here’s what the NFC West standings look like after two weeks of play:

1. 49ers (2-0)
2. Rams (1-1)

3. Seahawks (1-1)
4. Cardinals (0-2)

Seattle fended off a late Lions comeback to win in OT which would’ve put them two games behind San Francisco, but for now they still sit tied with the Rams at one game back.

LA has the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Seahawks for now, but the 49ers hold the tiebreak over the Rams and they won’t meet again until the final week of the season.

Arizona should’ve stayed in the mix after taking a 20-0 lead into halftime, but the Giants hung up 31 of the final 39 points to sneak out of the desert with a 31-28 victory.

It’s been a good start for the 49ers, but through two weeks it doesn’t look like the NFC West will be an easy division to win. The Rams and Seahawks appear ready to hang around in the race.
