An eagle-eyed TikTok star has claimed that they spotted a newsroom worker watching Shrek at their desk during a live broadcast.
According to the social media whizz, the newsreader at hand was watching the iconic Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy movie while another employee was delivering some terrible news about a woman who is currently missing.
On one screen, viewers at home could see the blonde female reporter delivering the latest news on camera, all the while Shrek can be seen on one of the screens behind her.
As the anchor updates viewers on the desperate search for the missing woman, some eagle-eyed viewers - including TikTok star Alex Goodman (goodie0414) – couldn't help but notice the loveable Scottish ogre in the background.
"Old mate got a little distracted," Goodman captioned the post. "Hope the woman is found tho."
And in the comments, some TikTok users joked that whoever was watching Shrek will soon be fired.
"Someone is getting fired," one joked while another echoed: "Uh-ohhh. Whoever is watching Shrek on that screen is about to lose their job."
Meanwhile, others poked fun at the on-air gaffe.
"Someone was bored at his work," one TikTok user quipped.
"I don't blame anyone for watching Shrek on the clock. I would if I could," another laughed.
"The fact he moved aside made it even funnier," said someone else.
"Shrek made it on to US telly. Love that for him," another TikTok user quipped.
The awkward newsroom blunder comes as Shrek is set to return for a fifth movie - 22 years after the original.
The legendary film franchise is set to return with a brand-new movie following the release of the smash-hit original which broke box-office expectations back in 2001.
Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy are all in talks to return as Shrek, Princess Fiona and Donkey while DreamWorks Animation creative partner Chris Meledandri confirmed that talks with the original stars are going well with them all on board to return.
No deals are currently in place, but with the huge stars in favour of getting a fifth movie made, it looks like Shrek 5 could be hitting the silver screen in the near future.
If that wasn't enough, there is also talk of Dreamworks producing a spin-off movie about Eddie Murphy's iconic character, Donkey.
The first Shrek movie, released in 2001, was a huge success and won the Oscar for Best Animated feature.
