MRS TRUMP is fancied to win her first race at the ninth attempt by beating seven opponents for the Family Day Bank Holiday Monday 28th August Handicap (9.00) at Ripon on Monday evening.
The Paul Midgley-trained daughter of James Garfield went down by a length and a half behind Rwenearlytheredad in an apprentice handicap over five furlongs at Beverley at the end of last month.
The form of that race has worked out well - the winner followed up at Doncaster three days later and third home Bella Kopella, having her first run since, scored back at Beverley on Saturday.
The way Mrs Trump came home under Elle-May Croot - Graham Lee is on board this evening - makes the return to six furlongs the right move here.
With the likelihood of more to come, my selection, third over course and distance in May on her first visit to Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse, gets the Nap vote to defy a British Horseracing Authority mark of 60.
Earlier on the Ripon card, COVERDALE has strong claims of completing a four-timer in the Ripon Directors Cup Handicap (7.55).
Ed Bethell’s three-year-old is 4lb higher as a result of a short-head margin from Gozo at Haydock last time but hasn’t yet reached the bottom of the barrel.
