THE QUESTIONER should have all the answers as he takes on nine opponents for the Coral Play ‘Racing-Super-Series’ For Free Handicap Hurdle (3.50) at Ayr this afternoon.
The son of Ask, trained in tandem by Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero, didn’t set the world alight in his first three attempts over obstacles but has proved a different proposition altogether since fitted with cheekpieces and sent into the handicap sphere.
My selection ended his first campaign over timber with victories at Southwell and Wetherby in March and is ready to strike at the third time of asking this season.
There was enough in The Questioner’s comeback fifth at Uttoxeter in the middle of last month to suggest a third success was not far away.
And that impression was reinforced with a half-length second – the six-year-old stayed on strongly after feeling the pinch turning for home – to Barely Famous at Southwell a fortnight later.
Despite a 3lb rise in the weights, The Questioner, on whom Henry Brooke takes over from Toby Wynne, is strongly fancied to go one better here.
At Newcastle, HILDENLEY is taken to build on a cosy course-and-distance score four weeks ago by capturing the Huge Daily Boosts Only At BetUK Handicap (Div II) (4.43).
