A round-up of the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Friday, May 20.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin's representatives visit St James' Park
Newcastle United will almost certainly be in the market for a striker this summer as they look to bolster their forward line. Callum Wilson showed just what he can do in the Magpies recent 2-0 win over Arsenal but has been unable to stay fully fit during his two years on Tyneside.
Chris Wood has failed to pull up trees since his January move from Burnley meaning Newcastle will be looking to dip into the market this summer. And one of their summer target's, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, recently had his representation visit St James' Park.
The Daily Mail reports that Calvert-Lewin's representatives were in attendance at St James' for Newcastle's 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at the end of April. Calvert-Lewin has struggled for fitness recently, making just 16 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees this season.
However, the England international is only 25, and scored 16 goals in the Premier League last season. With Everton potentially needing to sell in order to strengthen due to Financial Fair Play restraints, Calvert-Lewin could be available at the right price.
Dean Henderson latest
Newcastle United have played down talk that England international goalkeeper Dean Henderson spent yesterday on Tyneside talking to Eddie Howe about a summer loan move. Club sources have indicated that while incoming transfers are being assessed, Henderson, at least for now, remains a Manchester United player.
The Manchester United shot-stopper has been linked to the Magpies before but a switch to St James' Park is not believed to be at an advanced stage. Former Grimsby and Sheff United loanee Henderson made just three appearances this season for the Red Devils.
Henderson, who made his full England debut in November 2020 against the Republic of Ireland has only played three times for Man United this season and has yet to make a Premier League appearance. Last season he made 26 appearances in all competitions, including 13 in the Premier League.
