Newcastle United transfer gossip as Watford duo linked while Tielemans won't rush future decision

Your Newcastle United transfer round-up for Tuesday, July 6.

Watford duo absent in Austria

Ismaila Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis have not travelled with Watford for their pre-season trip to Austria, according to The Athletic.

Newcastle have been interested in Sarr since January but are yet to make an approach.

Dennis has also been linked with the Magpies, although Everton, West Ham United, Southampton and Fulham are also chasing the Nigerian international.

Both players are training at Watford’s training ground awaiting opportunities to leave Vicarage Road.

Watford are willing to ’consider sensible offers’ for their club record signing Sarr, who has scored 24 goals in 92 appearances across three seasons for the Hornets.

Dennis joined Watford from Club Brugge on a five-year contract last summer and is valued at around £20 million. The 24-year-old finished his debut season in England as Watford’s leading scorer with 10 goals in the Premier League.

Magpies retain interest in Lingard

Journalist Ben Jacobs has told NUFC Matters that Newcastle are still interested in former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard. Lingard was a target for Newcastle in January but negotiations broke down due to Man United’s desire to insert clauses and fees in any potential loan deal.

The England international is available as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at Old Trafford. Newcastle face competition from Lingard’s former club West Ham United, although his wage demands could prove a stumbling block. Lingard registered nine goals and five assists for in 19 appearances during an impressive loan spell at West Ham in 2021. Lingard joined Man United at the age of eight in 2000 and made his debut in August 2014. He won four trophies at Manchester United and scored the winning goal in extra-time in the 2016 FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.

Tielemans in no ‘hurry’ to decide future

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is in ‘no hurry’ to decide his future amid interest from Newcastle United. The Belgian international has entered the final year of his contract after three-and-a-half years at the King Power Stadium. Newcastle face competition from Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, although Tielemans insists that he is ‘fine’ with the Foxes.

“You have to stay calm. I’m fine where I am, I still have a year left of contract,” he previously said. “I’m not in a hurry at all. When you change clubs, you don’t change to change. You change because there is a great project on the table. For a football player, the most important thing is to play. It will be up to me to take the right decision regarding my future this summer.”
