Your Newcastle United transfer round-up for Tuesday, November 1.
Sutton on Trossard links
Chris Sutton would not be surprised if Leandro Trossard ended up on Tyneside in January. Newcastle have been linked with the Belgian, who is out on contract at the end of the campaign.
Trossard is Brighton’s top goalscorer and has helped the Seagulls emerge as a surprise package this season. Toon sporting Dan Ashworth signed the 27-year-old in 2019 and Sutton has weighed in on the transfer rumours.
“Oh yeah (whether Trossard would be good signing),” he told BBC 5 Live. “He's been absolutely flying this season. if you look at Brighton, he's been their main player, their best player, goal scorer.

“Of course, Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton manager) will want to hold on to him but, with Brighton and Trossard doing so well, it wouldn't be a total shock if he went up there.”
Asensio set to sign extension
Marco Asensio will sign a contract extension at Real Madrid, claims Spanish outlet Marca. Talk of a Newcastle move has lingered since the summer, with his contract set to expire in May.
The three-time Champions League winner has fallen down the pecking order at the Bernabeu and is yet to start a La Liga game this season. Despite this, Asensio is reportedly set to be offered a new deal.
Valued at £31.5million by transfrmarkt.com, Madrid likely want to protect themselves from losing an asset for nothing. A new lease of life at another club is needed to help resurrect the 26-year-old’s stalled career.
Caicedo price tag
Another Brighton player, Moises Caicedo, is a reported Toon target - but at a hefty price. The Mirror report that Newcastle must stump up £85million to lure the midfielder away from the Amex Stadium.
Caicedo has impressed for the Seagulls this season, helping fill the void left by Yves Bissouma. At just 20 years old, he is one of the brightest prospects in the Premier League and is set to feature for Ecuador at this month’s World Cup.
With three-and-a-half years left on his contract, Brighton are not desperate to sell - hence the astronomical price tag. The fact another youth player is proving a success on the South Coast is a testament to Ashworth’s eye for talent.
