A group of Newcastle United devotees who witnessed at first hand how a cardiac arrest can turn pleasure into fearsome reality in the blink of an eye have run to the rescue of all flirting with danger.
Craig Horsman, who supports United with his mates from the Gallowgate end of St James Park, twice this season witnessed fellow fans cut down on match day and decided he must to do something to help.
From that germ of a thought Craig and three mates have each just completed a sponsored 100-mile run during a calendar month to buy a defibrillator for his local Wallsend Ex-Servicemen's Club where supporters meet regularly to cheer on United in televised away games.
