Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes names favourite position after thriving under Eddie Howe

Bruno Guimaraes says he is thriving at Newcastle United after being handed the chance to play in his favourite position under Eddie Howe.

The Brazil international is currently playing as a number eight and his licence to get forward resulted in two goals in the 2-1 win over Leicester City. Playing alongside midfield enforcer Joelinton - who has won the most duels in the Premier League this season - and skipper Jonjo Shelvey is clearly bringing the best out of the South American.

When speaking to Globo in Brazil about his best role in Howe's side, Bruno said: "At Lyon, I had a slightly different role, I played more as a first man, but at Athletico Paranaense and here at Newcastle I've been playing with a number 8, where I feel more comfortable playing.

"I've also been playing this role in the national team, which is the one I like the most. I believe I still have a lot to evolve in that sense, but I've been scoring my goals, one here, another there.

"This is very important, we know that the national team's dispute in the midfield, along with the attack, is the one that has the most players competing. "So being able to stand out, scoring goals, providing assistance, can be a differential. I hope to do my best because my dream is to be in Qatar with Brazil at the World Cup."
