Jonjo Shelvey is set to complete his move to Nottingham Forest today after Newcastle United sanctioned his Toon exit.
The long-serving midfielder was close to triggering a one-year extension on his current deal, which ends at the close of the season, but Forest have offered him a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Newcastle are now looking at possibilities elsewhere in their midfield engine room in the last two days of the window. United are also trying to clinch a deal for Harrison Ashby from West Ham.
