Newcastle United hint that teenager Lewis Miley won't be allowed out on loan next season

Newcastle United could resist loan bids for exciting teenager Lewis Miley this summer - with Eddie Howe delighted with his development so far.

Miley came on for his Premier League debut to become the club's youngest ever player at 17 in the competition and clipped the crossbar within minutes of his arrival during the 1-1 draw against Chelsea. Miley admits the cameo at Stamford Bridge has given him the taste for more.

Miley was thrilled to make his Toon bow and the shirt will soon take residence at his home, he told Chronicle Live: "Yeah I think I'll get it framed at home. It was a great moment for me and my family."

When asked if he'd been tempted to trade it with the array of Chelsea stars on show, including England star Raheem Sterling, Thiago Silva and Enzo Fernandez, Miley said: "Not today!" But for Miley, his top-flight bow was reward for impressing in training.

After becoming the club's youngest Premier League debutant, Miley said: "I got told by my family so that makes it even better, it's a great feeling. I was not too nervous I was just buzzing to get on the pitch.

"Especially as it was the end of the season, I thought that was really good. Training (with first-team) has really developed me over the season, training with big players really helps."

Howe pulled Elliot Anderson back from a loan move last summer and he was eventually rewarded with 27 first-team appearances. The head coach admits Miley is slightly behind in terms of experience compared to Anderson but hinted he will stay at United next term.

He said: "Lewis, I'd say, is a bit behind that (Anderson). He's just turned 17 so I don't want to play too much expectation on him but he is someone we believe in. I certainly hope he is in and around training with us regularly next season."

Given there will be Champions League action and opportunities in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup next season, as well as the Papa John's Trophy with the Under-21s, Miley could add to his CV next term without going out on loan.
