Newcastle United await call on Bournemouth as Premier League clubs fear more postponements
Newcastle United are braced for news on whether next Saturday's game at home to AFC Bournemouth gets the green light.
The Magpies' away trip to West Ham was postponed along with the full slate of top-flight fixtures this weekend as a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Already, many Premier League clubs fear a second round of fixtures could be called off ahead of the Queen's funeral with police around the country set to be deployed to the capital.

However, it remains to be seen whether all fixtures are called off and the fact that cricket, rugby and horse racing has all gone ahead this weekend offers hope that not every Premier League game will be postponed. Manchester City have confirmed their UEFA Champions League encounter with Borussia Dortmund is on this Tuesday.
PSG chief indirectly hints at other clubs' Newcastle fear after their response to transfer bids
The term 'medium club' does not do the monster that is Newcastle United justice, but Nasser Al-Khelaifi could just so easily have been referring to the Magpies at an FPF Football Talks event in Lisbon earlier this week. The Paris Saint-Germain president said that 'some of the big clubs want to stop the medium clubs becoming bigger' because they are 'scared of the competition'.
The Premier League's elite may have ultimately withdrawn their support for the shameless Super League proposal last year, but the reality is that certain clubs still do not want to see the top six one day become the 'big seven with Newcastle ' as Chelsea owner Todd Boehly previously predicted. Eddie Howe was the first to admit that 'the narrative regarding us has changed' and that was never more apparent than earlier this summer.
Fabian Schar says life was 'tough' for players before Eddie Howe arrived at Newcastle United
Fabian Schar says it was a "tough" episode of his career before the arrival of Eddie Howe and his staff at Newcastle United.
The Switzerland international centre-back had been linked with a move to Germany in previous windows but soon agreed a new contract under Howe last spring. And the moment that Howe told him he was a big part of his plans moving forward, Schar had no hesitation in signing a new deal.
Schar said: "I’ve said this a lot of times. From day one, I’ve had confidence in the gaffer, which helps me a lot. Obviously, it was tough before (Howe’s arrival), but since they arrived, I felt confident with them, 100%. I did my part as well, played my game and got back to my best."
