Newcastle City Centre was electric as fans gathered at fan zones in the NX Newcastle and Northumbria University to watch Newcastle United compete in their first Wembley final since 1999.
Despite the disappointing result, fans were loud and proud in their support, as they willed the team through difficult periods in the game, and stayed until the final whistle to applaud them for the incredible cup run.
Few fans would have dared to dream this time last year when they were fighting relegation, that Newcastle United would find themselves in a Wembley cup final just 12 months on.

The build up to the game was fantastic in the two fan zones, with dancers and music at the NX, which allowed the fans to sing the famous Callum Wilson, Dan Burn and Miggy Almiron chants.
It was equally as exciting at Northumbria University, as a performance from Andrew Cushin accompanied a DJ set that helped to get the fans in the mood for such a massive game.
Andrew's comments before the game seemed to ring true afterwards as he spoke about the impact that the success of the team has had on him.
"This definitely isn't the first and last time, it's the first of many. They have brought so much joy to the last 12 months of my life", he said.
With kick-off minutes away, the fans at the NX performed a brilliant rendition of the national anthem, as much as singing 'god save the king' still takes a bit of getting used to.
The noise reached a fever pitch when the players walked out onto the hallowed turf and the game kicked off, with the fans watching on the big screen fighting for every ball along with the players.
At half time, Newcastle United had a mountain to climb, but the supporters were with them every step of the way, behaving incredibly well and staying until after the final whistle had been blown to give the team the credit that they so deserve.
After the game, the fans were in an optimistic mood, as they reflected on the incredible journey the team had been on. One such fan was Jack Lynn, who gave his thoughts at the end.
"Brilliant, they have exceeded my expectations. I didn't think we'd be able to have this moment. I think it's been an over-achievement", he said.
Beckie French, from County Durham, was there with her two young children, and she shared similar sentiments about how amazingly the team did to get this far.
"I think they did very well. They should be really proud of themselves for getting this far. The outcome doesn't matter as much, they still did themselves and their fans proud," she said.
Father and son duo Robert and Callum Syrett had travelled 240 miles from near Stafford to be in Newcastle today, as Robert is the son of a Geordie and former season ticket holder.
He spoke about how he felt after the game and gave his thoughts on the fans that were at Wembley.
"I think they did us proud, to be honest. It's hard to take but is what it is. I think we had the best side for 80 minutes and I think the fans did themselves proud as well."
