Newcastle United fan feels 'robbed' after Castore shirt for daughter's birthday fails to arrive two months on

A dad says he "feels robbed" after the Newcastle United shirt he had ordered for his daughter's birthday has still not arrived despite ordering it two months ago.

Derrick Costello said he has paid £70 for a personalised strip for his daughter, Ellie-May Costello, ahead of her 11th birthday this week. The 41-year-old said he thought it was was "brilliant" when he spotted an offer from the NUFC Store offer to get the shirt personalised for free and ordered it on September 30, giving it plenty of time to arrive.

But after forking out £65 for the top and £5 for delivery to his home in Grimsby, Derrick said the shirt, produced by sportswear brand Castore, never arrived.

The Newcastle United fan, who is originally from North Shields, says he has emailed the club store every week for the last nine weeks, asking for an update on his order but had yet to receive any reply. He fears he may never get the top or his money back and said he "feels robbed" of his hard-earned cash.

"It has been two months and it still hasn't come," Derrick said.

"The worst of it is that I keep getting emails from the store with offers and them saying I have not been on the site for a while, which is cheeky [when I am still waiting for my order.]

"When I ordered the shirt that week they said all personalisation is free. I thought, 'that's brilliant,' so I got her name on the back.

"I feel robbed. I just want to see her get the shirt.

"I have emailed them nine times and tried all the numbers but got no reply."

Derrick, who works at Young's fish factory in Grimsby, said he feels let down by the club he has supported all of his life.

"I have supported this club since the day I was born and it is not the best way to treat people," he said.

"The shirt cost £70 and with the way things are these days if I had not given them the £70 then I could have spent it on something else. I feel now that it's not going to come and that they have robbed me like.

"If I could get to speak to someone or receive an email back... It just doesn't feel right just to give up."

Chronicle Live has contacted Newcastle United and kit provider Castore for comment but did not receive responses.
