Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe saw his decision to name a strong side in the League Cup pay off in fine style as they edged a victory over AFC Bournemouth to stay on course for glory in the League Cup.
United thought they'd edged ahead through Callum Wilson on 26 minutes but the strike was chalked off for an offside call.
After a night of 17 goal attempts, it took an own goal from Adam Smith to seal a place in the last eight where some big guns will await.

Here's how the players rated at full-time.
Nick Pope 8
Another clean sheet and some huge stops including a last gasp block to deny Dominic Solanke.
Kieran Trippier 8
It was his moment of quality that helped pave the way for the opener as his cross was hooked into his own net by Smith. It was one of many fine deliveries on the night.
Fabian Schar 7
Recovered from early injury scare. Sent an effort wide on his return to action. A solid all round game.
Sven Botman 9
So composed. Read the game like an old pro, it's hard to believe he's still just 22.
Dan Burn 8
Got the nod again ahead of Targett and put in a solid shift. A real terrace favourite.
Joe Willock 7
Didn't have much offensive impact but got through some solid defensive work. Taken off for a tactical switch.
Sean Longstaff 7
An very steady display in midfield with five excellent tackles.
Bruno Guimaraes 8
Full of energy and has had Newcastle's best moments. Great to see him back.
Joelinton 7
Entrusted with an attacking role and caused a few problems.
Miguel Almiron 6
A below par night by his own high standards this season. Close range miss before the break summed up a tough game.
Callum Wilson 7
A frustrating evening as he missed a couple of chances and had a goal disallowed. But helped make space and cause the confusion for Smith to turn it past his own keeper.
Subs
Allan Saint-Maximin 6 (for Willock 56)
Caused a few problems.
Chris Wood (for Wilson 76)
Jacob Murphy (for Almiron 76)
