Here is your latest 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.
Maddison latest
Newcastle United failed with two summer approaches for James Maddison, and the Leicester City playmaker has gone on to enjoy another fine season. The one-cap England international has struggled with injury but has still netted nine goals and five assists in all competitions.
Maddison is about to enter the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium, and Brendan Rodgers admits he will not 'beg the attacking midfielder to sign a new deal. The Foxes have not given up hope of convincing the 26-year-old to stay, and the Magpies have been tipped to revive their interest.
Now, Football Insider claim Leicester will still demand a fee in the region of £60 million to £70m to sanction a summer exit, despite Maddison's contract status. Manchester City have previously been linked, with the latest report also claiming Arsenal and Barcelona are interested.

Hincapie claim
Newcastle and Tottenham were both reportedly mulling over mid-season moves for Bayer Leverkusen star Piero Hincapie. The Ecuador international made the move to Bayer Leverkusen in 2021, and the 21-year-old has already emerged as a regular starter for the Bundesliga side.
Hincapie started all three of Ecuador's World Cup fixtures, and reports suggested Tottenham saw a £22m approach on deadline day last month turned down. Now, InterLive claim this price tag may double for the summer window after Hincapie recently signed a contract extension until 2027.
The agreement has no release clause which has seemingly ruled Inter Milan out of the running, and also deterred Liverpool and Tottenham. However, the report claims Newcastle 'could snatch' Hincapie now as a result with the defender said to be 'destined' for the Premier League.
