Here is your latest 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.
McTominay request
Scott McTominay has told friends he wishes to leave Manchester United this summer, according to Football Insider. The Scotland international has struggled for game-time this season, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen establishing themselves as the preferred central-midfield pairing under Erik ten Hag.
Newcastle United and West Ham have both previously been credited with an interest in McTominay, who will have two years to run on his contract at Old Trafford plus a club option to extend by a further year. The 26-year-old expects the Red Devils to recruit another midfielder this summer, further increasing competition for places.
McTominay has started just four matches in the Premier League since September. The Magpies are expected to be in the market for another midfielder this summer.

Wirtz interest
Eddie Howe has distanced Newcastle from making 'marquee' additions this summer, despite the obvious need to bolster the squad ahead of the return to Europe. However, that has not stopped Spanish outlet Fichajes from suggesting a club-record move for Florian Wirtz could be on the cards.
The Bayer Levekusen talent is said to be on the radar of both Real Madrid and Barcelona, having returned from a knee injury to register four goals and eight assists this season. The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the most promising attackers in Europe, and would command a premium when it comes to any prospective summer deal.
However, the report suggests a lofty fee would not be a 'problem' for Newcastle. Wirtz is capable of playing in a wide role, or through the middle as a central attacking midfielder.
