There will be plenty of support for England's Lionesses in Newcastle on Sunday as huge beer garden Central Park becomes a Fan Zone for the Euros final on Sunday.
The whole country was behind the team as they took on Sweden in the crunch semi-final on Tuesday night. After a nervy start, tournament top scorer Beth Mead put England ahead with a sweet strike before half time. Things got even better for the home team after the break, when Lucy Bronze headed in a second, before a sublime bit of skill from Alessia Russo saw her find the net with a cheeky back heel.
The victory was sealed by a chip from Fran Kirby, with the final whistle sparking wild celebrations from the players and fans in the stand as everyone joined in a mass sing along to adopted England anthem Sweet Caroline.
Sarina Wiegman's team are now through to Sunday's final (kick off 5pm) under the arches at Wembley and, while their opponents are still to be decided, with France taking on Germany in the second semi on Wednesday night, England fans are already looking ahead to the weekend.
And, just like it was for the men's Euros last year, Central Park will be the place to be on Sunday afternoon, as everyone hopes the result will go England's way this time. The great news for fans in the city centre is that entry will be free but, with the place set to be packed out, pre-booking is advised.
Central Park's Mike Hesketh told Chronicle Live: "We didn’t think this year we would see another repeat of another Euro final for England, but it’s happening all over again, and we can’t wait to host a special Fan zone this Sunday for our Lionesses at Central Park!"
He added: "Let’s hope the result this time round is better for ladies than it was for the gents!” It’s free entry on Sunday but we would advise to book online to secure your place as we’re expecting their to be a huge turnout! Families and dogs all welcome for this one as well, so it’s set to be a special day for all England fans."
