Erling Haaland could be set to miss the huge Premier League showdown between Manchester City and Liverpool. Concerns are beginning to grow within the City camp that their 42-goal striker may miss this weekend’s clash.
The Norwegian missed his country’s international double-header against Spain and Georgia. Sceptical football fans questioned whether this was merely a ploy to ensure Haaland would be fit for a monumental top-flight blockbuster on Saturday.
However, there is genuine fear the 22-year-old will be unavailable after he missed training on Thursday. Haaland’s father, Alf Inge, updated the media in midweek about his son’s fitness - casting doubt over the Liverpool game.

“You can’t just go two weeks without training and then jump right into a fight,” he told TV2 Sport. “There must be a progression there. It is about how he responds to treatment in the next few days.”
Haaland’s absence would serve as a huge boost for Liverpool as they bid to reignite their Champions League push. As it stands, the Reds are seven points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
Liverpool also trail Newcastle United by five points as the season approaches crunch time. In other bad news for Pep Guardiola’s side, Phil Foden is also expected to miss the game after having his appendix removed during the international break.
