A Mexican migrant diagnosed with leukemia has died after being held in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), prompting allegations of medical negligence and renewed scrutiny over healthcare conditions inside immigration detention facilities.
The man, identified by Mexican authorities as José Guadalupe Ramos Solano, died after being detained at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in Southern California. ICE said he was found unconscious and unresponsive in his housing unit before being transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
