Miami-Dade Confirmed as Florida's Third Locally Acquired Dengue Case as Mosquito Control Funding Faces a November Vote

Florida health officials have confirmed Miami-Dade County as the state's third locally acquired dengue case of 2026, resolving a counting question that was open when the county issued its mosquito-borne illness alert. The other two local cases were reported in Hillsborough County in July and in Palm Beach County.

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County said it is coordinating surveillance, prevention and control efforts with Miami-Dade County Mosquito Control.
