Newcastle lout urinated on terrified ex's floor and threatened to 'smash her face in'

A convicted domestic abuser barricaded himself inside his ex's home before urinating on her floor and causing damage.

Daniel Heatherington had forced the terrified woman to flee her Killingworth house after he let himself in late one evening and began making threats to "smash her face in". The 31-year-old then placed numerous items behind the front door to prevent the police gaining access while he went on to damage a table and shoe rack, a court heard.

The lout, who has past convictions for assaulting partners, was finally arrested and appeared in custody at North Tyneside Magistrates' Court less than 36 hours later. Heatherington, of Edgemount, in Killingworth, pleaded guilty to criminal damage.
