Newcastle United have joined a number of La Liga clubs in the chase for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old came off the bench ahead of the penalty shootout with Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, only to miss the decisive spot-kick at Wembley.
Chelsea remain optimistic of cashing in on the Spaniard, however, having failed to find a loan move during the January transfer window.
The Blues reportedly value Arrizabalaga at £50million, despite splashing £75million on his services back in 2018, and it is likely that Magpies will have to match that valuation with a number of clubs in Spain also interested.
As per Daily Star, Newcastle reportedly view Kepa as an upgrade on their current options at St. James's Park - Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow.
The report also details that despite their price tag, Chelsea could be convinced to accept a loan offer when the summer window opens as long as it came with an obligation to buy.
Newcastle have shown that they will not be shy when it comes to spending big in the transfer market having already brought in Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes and Dan Burn during the January window.
Edouard Mendy is considered first choice at Stamford Bridge and is considered one of the world's best goalkeepers having helped Thomas Tuchel's side to the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
But having built a reputation as the Blues' penalty shootout, Kepa was brought off the bench against Liverpool with the hope of securing Tuchel's fourth piece of silverware.
