Newcastle confident of Tino Livramento deal despite Southampton's difference in valuation

Newcastle United are hopeful of securing a deal for Southampton right-back Tino Livramento in the coming weeks. The 20-year-old is poised to leave St Mary's after the Saints' recent relegation to the Championship, with the Magpies one of many suitors.

Livramento only recently returned from an anterior cruciate ligament injury after spending 392 days on the sidelines. The youngster is one of England's brightest young prospects as is seen as the ideal back-up for Kieran Trippier on Tyneside.

Chronicle Live understands there is confidence from Newcastle's side that a deal will be achieved despite the two clubs currently sitting around £10m apart in their respective valuation of the player. Ryan Fraser is expected to go in the opposite direction as part of the deal.

Livramento was named Chelsea academy player of the year for the 2020–21 season before featuring a handful of times for the west London outfit. He joined Southampton for £5m in 2021, with Chelsea placing a buy-back clause of £25m in the deal.

Livramento suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in April 2022 and only returned to the first-team on the south coast in May this year. The full-back has featured five times for England's Under-21 side.

Newcastle have also been keeping tabs on Southampton duo Kyle Walker-Peters and James Ward-Prowse with new boss Russell Martin expected to lose more key players before the start of the new season.

As for Fraser, the winger has been out of the picture at Newcastle since earlier this year after falling out of favour with Eddie Howe. The Magpies boss banished the Scot to the Under-21 setup, casting major doubt over his future.

Fraser almost joined Southampton back in January but a move failed to materialise despite the player seeking a return down south. The 29-year-old shares the same agent as Livramento and personal terms aren't expected to be a problem.
