AHMEDABAD: It is well-known by now that Rachin Ravindra-who smashed a breath-taking century to play a big part in the Kiwis' nine-wicket trouncing of England at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday night, was at a bar in his native city of Bangalore when New Zealand lost a heart-breaking 2019 World Cup final at Lord's to England due to a dubious boundary countback rule.
Perhaps, he saved the frustration of seeing the Blacks lose a cliffhanger that night to fuel his power-packed, maiden ODI hundred (123 not out off 96 balls) four years later. Soaking it in, the previously little-known left-hander said: "The first one, I guess everyone says, is pretty special. It was pretty cool to be able to share that with Devon (Conway), my sort of good mate. It was a good game for us as a team, as a whole."
