The New York Jets could have an unfortunate saga on their hands after struggling to come to terms on an extension for one of their best players.
Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams is one of the last players from the 2019 NFL Draft to not be given an extension, with the team reportedly 'not close' on agreeing a deal. From the same draft class, fellow defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence was given his new deal this past weekend - signing a four-year, $90 million contact to remain with the New York Giants.
After seeing that deal, Williams will likely ask for a contract that far exceeds the numbers given to Lawrence, after being taken much higher and performing at a higher level in recent years.
