New World Rugby rankings see Wales plummet after Georgia humiliation

Wales have fallen to ninth in the latest World Rugby rankings following the devastating 13-12 loss to Georgia on Saturday.

Wayne Pivac's side created history of the wrong sort once again as they slumped to a first ever defeat against the Tier Two nation amid an appalling display. It has seen them drop two places in the world order and led to calls for the head coach to be sacked.

No decision on Pivac's future will be made ahead of the final autumn international against Australia, although another defeat would leave the WRU in a very difficult situation less than a year out from the World Cup.

Scotland's thumping 52-29 win over Argentina sees them up from ninth to sixth, with the Pumas in seventh and Australia, who narrowly lost 13-10 to Ireland, in eighth place.

The Irish maintain their number one ranking, ahead of France and New Zealand, who drew 25-25 with England.

Georgia have moved up to 13th, ahead of Fiji, after their famous win in Cardiff.
