New Walking Dead: Dead City spin-off release date, synopsis and where to watch

The Walking Dead: Dead City has premiered in the United States but fans in the UK will have to wait to watch the latest instalment from the franchise. Based on The Walking Dead (TWD) characters Maggie and Negan, it is the fourth spin-off to have come out of the original series.

One of the most eagerly anticipated spin-offs, The Walking Dead: Dead City has long been rumoured and is set several years after the series finale of TWD, which ended its 11 season and 177 episode run on November 20, 2022. AMC has confirmed the series will run for an initial six episodes, released in the US on the following dates:

  • Episode 1 - Old Acquaintances - June 18
  • Episode 2 - Who's There? - June 25
  • Episode 3 - People are a Resource - July 2
  • Episode 4 - Everybody Wins a Prize - July 9
  • Episode 5 - Stories We Tell Ourselves - July 16
  • Episode 6 - Doma Smo - July 23

With many TWD fans in the UK, viewers of the originals series have been eager to know when they can watch Dead City and where it will be released. However, fans are set to be disappointed if they don't have access to US TV.

The Walking Dead: Dead City will be released and how to watch

The Walking Dead: Dead City was officially released on Sunday, June 18 - but this was not the same across the globe. Viewers in the UK are yet to be told when it will be aired in the country.

It is expected AMC will announce when British viewers will be able to get watching the spin-off, but there is no news as of yet. Not only is a release date yet to be confirmed, a UK broadcaster also hasn't been named.

The Walking Dead previously streamed episodes on Disney Plus, but The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Fear The Walking Dead streamed on Prime Video instead.

What The Walking Dead: Dead City is about

The official synopsis for The Walking Dead: Dead City says that the series follows Megan and Negan as they travel "into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror."

While the new series featuring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan's characters is set in New York, the entire series was actually filmed in New Jersey.
