The doors of Stirling’s new B&M store in Springkerse opened at the weekend - with the help of a local charity.
The team from Home-Start Stirling took centre stage on Saturday to officially unveil the new shop, which has created 62 jobs for local people.
The new colleagues were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community and they chose Home-Start Stirling.
The charity is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children through challenging times. They work alongside parents, in their own homes, to help them cope with the stress and strains of life and make sure they have the skills, confidence and strength they need to nurture their children.
In addition to opening the store, the team also received £250 worth of B&M vouchers which will go towards helping the charity to continue their work.
The store manager said: “It was really exciting to welcome customers through the doors; the feedback so far has been fantastic.
“A big thank you to the team at Home-Start Stirling who helped us open the store. We hope that our donation can help them to continue to do the great work they do in supporting the local people.”
The new store and garden centre in Springkerse Retail Park is on the site of the former Homebase store.
The retailers faced a challenging process before finally securing permission to open the store.

Stores operating at Springkerse have traditionally been restricted to the sale of household goods with sales of food not allowed, but Stirling Council’s planning panel last year approved B&M’s application to vary a condition of previous planning consent, allowing the sale of food and non-food goods.
Homebase closed their store at the end of 2018 with the loss of 65 jobs and it has been vacant until now.
B&M currently have another store in the city’s Kerse Road - which they have pledged to retain for at least three years from the opening of the new store.
