Perhaps the biggest move of the offseason so far for the Pittsburgh Steelers has been the trade to acquire veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson. Robinson, a nine-year veteran and Pro Bowler brings a wealth of experience and productivity to a young and talented wide receiver room.
Robinson spoke to the media on Monday and seemed like he was genuinely ready to be part of this group and confident in what he can bring to this offense.
“I feel like I have a lot of football left in me,” Robinson said. “My route-running ability, being able to get active in the red zone and things like that, I felt good about last year.”
The past two seasons have been somewhat forgettable for Robinson with only 71 total receptions but it isn’t like Pittsburgh is going to ask him to be the No. 1 receiver. With Diontae Johnson and George Pickens on the roster, Robinson’s role will be to come in as the third receiver, line up on the boundary and pull defenses deep while either Pickens or Johnson get mismatches in the slot.
