Villagers in Nottinghamshire have praised new speeding tubes which have been installed on a main road where motorists ‘zoom’ down.
Speed tubes have been introduced in Main Street, Burton Joyce, after Conservative Carlton East Councillor at Nottinghamshire County Council, Mike Adams, requested for them to be installed.
Speed tubes are two pipes on the road that measure the speed difference when driving over them. Despite Main Street being 30mph residents say motorists zoom on the street.

“It’s horrendous. It’s a cut through, they just zoom down,” said resident Jean Smith.
“Especially if there’s roadworks people just cut through. It makes it very dangerous and there are a lot of older people. It’s not very good.”
The 75-year-old added the new measures are positive, she said: “It’s good, it’s excellent. It's what it needs. Anything has got to be a good thing to slow people down.”
Sandra Jones, 80, retired, said: “It’s a brilliant idea, cars can come flying through the village sometimes, hopefully something like this will stop that.
“It’s scary how fast they can. It’s a residential road and there’s shops so people are always walking around, going to the Co-op, so you worry someone will get hurt.”
Another resident, who wished to not be named, added: “I’m glad something is being done. It’s a busy road and cars do come up fast. I think it’s good.”
Nottinghamshire county councillor Mike Adams said: ”Great to see my request for speed tubes on Main St, Burton Joyce installed to show the issues we are having, especially when road works are in place on Church/Nottingham Road.”
