New shop and showroom to open on busy Nottingham city centre street

Interior building work has started on a new Omega shop and showroom which is set to open in Nottingham city centre by the start of February. Omega jewellers signage has already been added to the building, on Bridlesmith Gate near Waterstones bookshop, and its windows.

The watchmaker is known for its luxury watches. It already has two stockists in the city centre, including Berry's Jeweller and Goldsmith's on Victoria Street.

Builders are currently working on the interior of the shop, which will be inside one of the listed buildings on the street. The red signage is now on the windows.

Once the showroom is open, Berry's will no longer stock Omega but it will move to the new shop, which is two doors down. Omega is a luxury Swiss watchmaker based in Biel/Bienne. It was founded in 1848 as La Generale Watch Co before becoming Omega in 1903.

Omega has many showrooms across the world and the UK but it has a museum dedicated to its historical pieces in Switzerland only. The new showroom will be in good company as it is also near Goldsmith's jewellers.

Omega has a list of celebrity clients who love the famous SeaMaster watch. The SeaMaster range is hugely popular and it has been modelled by Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan in the James Bond films. James Bond's Omega Seamaster, worn by Daniel Craig in No Time to Die, sells for £226,800.

Prince William is also said to be a fan of the iconic watch, preferring the blue dial and bezel model, which was created in 1948. The watch is thought to have been a gift from his mother, Princess Diana.

Bridlesmith Gate has undergone a transformation in recent weeks with the launch of new businesses including many independents, such as 101 Vintage and Stick and Ribbon. The new colourful murals have also helped to revive the fashionable street by increasing footfall.
