New retro arcade games bar opens in Bristol city centre

A new bar with a range of restored retro arcade machines and consoles has opened in Bristol.

Four Quarters is the UK’s original arcade bar and it is the company’s first launch outside London, where it has two sites.

Taking over the former Bristol Ram on Park Street, Four Quarters has around 20 arcade machines and the bar features a range of local craft beer and cocktails.

Four Quarters specialises in finding and restoring original arcade machines, giving them a second life at their bars.

Keeping them authentic to their time, they include rare and genuine arcade games from the 1980s to mid-2000s.

The games are located on two floors and feature Tetris, Time Crisis 2, Space Invaders, WWF Pinball and Mortal Kombat 2.

The retro arcade games are played with American Quarters sold at the bar. £1 is four quarters, which pays for four games.

There are also bookable areas for groups to play classic consoles like N64, Megadrive and PS2 - with a wide choice of games to play.

Four Quarters have teamed up with Bristol’s Lost and Grounded and Bristol Beer Factory breweries at the site and offer a range of lagers and beers on tap.

Four Quarters bosses say the venue offers a wide selection of drinks and arcade games and provides a unique experience for ‘anything from casual evenings with friends or after work, to more intense high-score battles’.

A spokesperson for Four Quarters said: “Four Quarters is the UK’s original arcade bar, home to authentic retro arcade machines and consoles.

“We work with local breweries to provide the best in craft beer alongside a fine cocktail menu and we attract a range of customers who come to drink and socialise with their friends.

“Whether over a pizza and a pint, blasting zombies in House of the Dead, or fighting around the world in Street Fighter 2, we provide nostalgic memories via a mix of excellent drinks, arcade games and fun.”

Four Quarters has opened on one floor but will extend the games areas to the basement in the coming weeks.
