Residents of LA County will soon receive a stimulus check to provide them some "breathing room" to help their financial stability in a new guaranteed income pilot program called Breathe LA County.
The pilot program will provide 1,000 county residents that completed the application process and met all the necessary requirements with $1,000 a month for three years for a total of up to $36,000.
Breathe LA County will also help an additional 200 former Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) foster youth with $1,000 per month for two years.
"This type of program also offers people the opportunity to have time to complete their distance education, get job training and participate fully in their communities," the organization said in a statement.
Here's what else you should know about the pilot program.
